NEWS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF JEAN LAMBERT

JEAN LAMBERT MEP JOINS FIGHT AGAINST PHONE MASTS

February 10 2005

Jean Lambert, London's Green MEP, will join local parents in their fight to stop two phone masts being erected close to a Harrow primary school. Jean will speak at a public meeting on Friday 18 February at St Joseph's School, Dobbin Close, Harrow at 7:30pm. Jean will point out that research commissioned by the European Parliament concluded that the microwaves from mobile phone masts can degrade the immune system, increase headaches, cause sleep deprivation, and impair memory. The findings also emphasised that children are especially vulnerable to this radiation due to their developing nervous systems.

She will say; "Parents are rightly concerned about the safety of their children and the European Parliament is pressing for more research into the subject and has asked for measures enforcing minimum safety distances from public buildings be put into place. We must not gamble with our children's health. I urge Harrow Council to think long and hard before putting commercial gain before children's health."
