LONDON’S Green MEP Jean Lambert is to applaud a Lambeth-based charity on Friday when she visits Find Your Feet, an organisation helping to combat poverty, malnutrition and disease.
“FYF is an amazing project. I am very impressed by the work they are doing and inspired by what they are trying to achieve,” said Mrs Lambert.
“Through its programmes, FYF enables rural communities to utilise their natural resources and their own resourcefulness in developing long-term food security and income-generation opportunities.”
A vital aspect of FYF’s work is concerned with raising awareness of development issues in the UK. To this end, the organisation has recently commenced a long-term development education programme for schools.
FYF works in partnership with non-governmental organisations in both South Asia and Africa.
Mrs Lambert will be given a tour of the organisation’s facilities and learn more about the projects being undertaken.
“Given my interest, and the growing role of the European Union, in the
question of Social Inclusion, listening to the voices of communities and practitioners
is essential. I am looking forward to this opportunity to hear first hand from
those working to improve the quality of life for impoverished communities around
the world,” she added.
