LONDON’S Green MEP Jean Lambert is to visit GHARWEG, an organisation providing advice and support to black and minority communities, as part of a cross-London tour of ‘Best Practise Charities.’
“I am very impressed with the work GHARWEG is doing to provide some of London’s most vulnerable citizens with direct support by way of employment training, vocational guidance and counseling services,” said Mrs Lambert.
Based in Southwark, GHARWEG runs a range of development activities to encourage black and minority communities to be proactive in the fight against poverty and to improve awareness of social issues among migrants.
“GHARWEG’s projects help to empower minority groups, which is an essential step on the road to reducing inequality and combating social exclusion in the city.”
Mrs Lambert will be given a tour of the organisation’s facilities and learn more about the projects being undertaken.
“Given my interest, and the growing role of the European Union, in the
question of Social Inclusion, listening to the voices of communities and practitioners
is essential. I am delighted to have the opportunity to hear first hand from
those working to empower marginalised groups,” she added.
