Chair of Parliament’s South Asia Delegation (Jean Lambert) on the attack in Peshawar (Pakistan)
We condemn in the strongest terms the senseless and horrific attack that took place on a military school in Peshawar. The targeting of innocent school children is a most shocking and repulsive act, and sends no message other than the meaningless brutality of terrorism perpetrated by groups such as the Taliban. Our heartfelt condolences and thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims.
The European Parliament has shown the importance we attach to access to education for all Pakistanis by awarding our Sakharov Prize to Malala Yousafzai. Today more than ever, we stand together with her, the Pakistani Government, and the wider international community in our commitment to fight terrorism and safeguard the values of human rights and freedoms.
