Jean visited the site on numerous occasions to investigate whether the work contravened Government regulations, and fought alongside local residents who oppose the development.<\/p>\n<p>Inspectors finally described development plans for Maylands fields as <strong>\u201cunlawful development in significant breach of green belt policy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMaylands Fields is an important wildlife site and a vital part of Havering&#8217;s precious Green Belt.\u201d<br \/>\nJean Lambert MEP<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Arsenal Stadium<\/h2>\n<p>Jean condemned proposals to build a new Stadium for Arsenal in the Borough of Islingtonat Asburton Grove. It was clear to Jean, and thousands of North London Residents that it was purely for the benefit of the local community and indeed Arsenal fans. Jean called for a public enquiry in to the stadium plans.<\/p>\n<h2>Spitalfields Market Development<\/h2>\n<p>Jean made a formal complaint to the European Commission that Tower Hamlets council may have breached European Law in its handling of the contested Spitalfields Market Development in November 2001.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is a both a legal requirement and best practice that a full Environmental Impact Assessment is included as part of these large scale developments from day one, under the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive.&#8221;<br \/>\nJean Lambert MEP<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Crystal Palace<\/h2>\n<p>The European Commission decided to take the UK Government to court over its failure to require an Environmental Impact Assessment for a planned multiplex cinema in Crystal Palace Park.
