Delegation to South Asian States

Jean is the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the countries of South Asia – six nations in all: Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives and Bhutan.

This work has taken her on visits to the region, to discuss democracy, climate change, human rights and trade with the EU with prime ministers, Presidents and Monarchs, national parliamentarians, workers and trade unionists – and some of the EU businesses and charities working in the region.

She has seen for herself many of the EU-funded projects ‘on the ground’ in South Asia, as well as numerous businesses – and even responses to some of the natural – and man-made – disasters to hit the region.

There is more detail of this work on the official Delegation website, or on the individual country links from this page.

Here’s a short video of Jean explaining what the Delegation is all about.
