Last night, a gunman opened fire at the Christmas market in central Strasbourg. At least two people lost their lives, and over a dozen more have been injured.
Jean Lambert, London’s Green MEP, responded to this tragic event:
“I was appalled by last night’s horrific attack in Strasbourg. This was an assault on humanity in the heart of a wonderful city that has become a symbol of peace, democracy and human rights.
My thoughts are with those who have lost their lives or suffered injuries, and their loved ones.
As a Londoner, I am all too familiar with the anguish caused by such devastating acts of violence. Yet, I am also aware how much strength can be drawn when diverse communities unite to support each other in these difficult times.
This city is no different. We must stand together against those who seek to divide us.”
